However, no need to move far to meet one: this Lycaenidae seems perfectly at ease even in northern Italy and southern France. This butterfly of the family Lycaenidae is active from April to September. The habitat is the dry grassland on chalk or limestone but occasionally we may find it also in non-calcareous soils. The larvae feed on Common Sphagnum (Hippocrepis comosa) and are frequented (and assisted) by ants, a practice common to many Lycaenidae species.
